Funatix Events is a rapidly growing live events, sports, and experiential entertainment company based in Bismarck, ND. We produce and manage some of the region’s most iconic and high-impact events — including Mandan Rodeo Days, The Bismarck Marathon, Red, White & Boom, numerous corporate festivals, statewide celebrations like the ND Governors’ Cup, and a full slate of immersive community activations at the historic Bismarck Depot.

Position Overview
Funatix Events is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing, Events to lead all marketing, communications, digital strategy, and ticket sales initiatives across our event portfolio.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing a high-performing internal team (Marketing Manager + Communications Manager), developing data-driven growth strategies, and owning the marketing results for some of North Dakota’s most recognizable events.
The Director of Marketing sits on the organizational leadership team and plays a central role in brand strategy, ticket revenue, audience expansion, sponsor value amplification, and the overall attendee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Department Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the marketing and communications team (2 direct reports)
- Drive clarity and accountability within the marketing department
- Align marketing strategy with company goals, leadership priorities, and revenue targets
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sponsorship, Ticketing, Operations, and Executive Leadership
Audience Growth, Ticket Sales & Campaign Strategy
- Own all ticketing-related marketing strategy for 30+ annual events
- Develop segmentation strategies and targeted campaigns
- Create and optimize promotional offers, group packages, and value-driven fan experiences
- Build annual marketing calendars and event-specific launch plans
Digital Marketing & Paid Media Execution
- Oversee all email, SMS, digital advertising, geotargeting, retargeting, and paid social
- Manage creative direction and asset briefs for design and video teams
- Ensure unified brand voice across social, web, advertising, and on-site channels
- Build and improve the digital customer journey (awareness → conversion → retention)
Content, Brand & Communications
- Develop and maintain a strong, cohesive brand identity for Funatix Events
- Oversee messaging, tone, creative storytelling, and content production
- Direct public communications and event messaging (scripts, announcements, PR alignment)
Website, App & CRM Oversight
- Manage digital platforms, website updates, UX flow, and event landing pages
- Ensure accurate, up-to-date, conversion-optimized event information
- Maintain clean, organized customer databases with effective tagging and segmentation
Analytics, Insights & Reporting
- Track, measure, and report on campaign performance and ROI
- Use analytics tools (GA4, Meta Ads, URL tracking, dashboards) to drive decisions
- Forecast attendance trends and provide recommendations to leadership
Event Support & Brand Representation
- Attend and support major Funatix events (nights/weekends as needed)
- Represent the brand publicly at events, media engagements, and community partnerships
What We’re Looking For
An exceptional leader who brings:
Experience
- 5+ years in marketing leadership (events, sports, entertainment, tourism, or consumer brands preferred)
- Proven success driving ticket sales, digital engagement, and measurable audience growth
- Direct experience managing people, delegating effectively, and developing talent
Skills
- Strong command of CRM/email platforms, segmentation, and automation
- Expertise in paid media (Meta, Google, TikTok, display)
- Strong writing, creative direction, and storytelling ability
- High-level proficiency with analytics tools and performance reporting
- Knowledge of AI platforms and automations
- Adobe Creative Suite, Canva experience is a plus
- Ability to work fast, adapt quickly, and manage multiple deadlines
