Job Summary


The Grill Cook is responsible for the fast, efficient, and sanitary preparation and cooking of high-volume concession food items (e.g., hot dogs, burgers, sausages, grilled chicken) during stadium events. This role focuses on maintaining a clean, well-stocked, and safe grill station, quickly fulfilling customer orders, and ensuring all grilled products meet quality and presentation standards in a busy, fast-paced, event-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities and Duties


  • Grill Operations:
    Set up and stock the grill station before events. Safely operate and maintain commercial grills, flat tops, and warming equipment in a concession stand environment.
  • High-Volume Cooking: Efficiently prepare and cook all menu items, including continuous grilling and batch cooking to meet peak demand during event rush periods (e.g., between innings).
  • Food Quality & Safety: Monitor food temperatures, ensuring all products are cooked to proper internal temperatures and held at safe serving temperatures. Maintain a consistent quality and appearance for all items.
  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and personal hygiene. Maintain the immediate work area, cleaning the grill, flat top, and surrounding surfaces throughout the event and completing a thorough breakdown at the conclusion of service.
  • Inventory & Stocking: Organize and stock raw materials and prepped items at the grill station. Communicate with supervisors regarding low stock levels and potential bottlenecks.
  • Team Communication: Work collaboratively with concession counter staff and kitchen team to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
  • Availability: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience (6+ months) as a grill cook, line cook, or in a high-volume concession/fast-food environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Knowledge of standard cooking methods and food safety procedures.
  • Possession of a valid local food handler's permit or willingness to obtain one upon hiring.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact with team members.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours) on hard surfaces.
  • Ability to perform frequent, repeated, and sustained lifting, carrying, and pushing of items.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds (with assistance if necessary).
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced, high-temperature, and noisy environment, often exposed to heat from the grill and steam.
