Position Summary
The Bismarck Larks are seeking a Field Manager to lead our baseball program the Larks way—rooted in discipline, professionalism, and our EPIC values: Experience Obsessed, Positive Energy, Innovating Constantly, and Community Minded.
This is not a role for someone looking to “run it their way.” The Field Manager is responsible for building a winning culture, maximizing player development, and creating the best summer collegiate baseball experience in the country for players, fans, college coaches, and MLB scouts.
You will lead all baseball operations—from recruiting and on-field strategy to travel logistics and community engagement—while mentoring players and holding coaches and staff accountable to the highest professional standards.
Core Responsibilities
1. Culture, Leadership & Accountability
  • Enforce and model the Larks’ team-first culture of discipline, respect, and effort.

  • Serve as a visible leader and mentor, reinforcing professionalism and positive energy daily.

  • Maintain alignment with organizational expectations, responding promptly to feedback from the front office.

  • Develop and maintain the Larks Winning Way handbook outlining on-field and off-field expectations, strategies, and culture.

2. Recruiting & Roster Management
  • Recruit and maintain a competitive roster of elite collegiate athletes who embody the Larks’ values.

  • Maintain updated contact lists for college coaches, MLB scouts, and player advisors.

  • Collaborate with the front office on recruiting strategies and marketing materials for prospective players.

  • Oversee all player contracts, compliance with league rules, and buy-in to team culture.

  • Manage in-season recruiting to maintain competitive depth throughout the summer.

3. Game & Practice Operations
  • Coach all games and lead structured, purposeful practices.

  • Prepare and deliver advanced scouting reports and pregame plans.

  • Oversee assistant coaches, clubhouse managers, and analytics staff to ensure consistent player development.

  • Incorporate tools like video analysis and Trackman data into training.

4. Logistics & Player Oversight
  • Coordinate all team travel, hotels, meals, and itineraries.

  • Work with host family coordinators to manage player arrivals, departures, and transportation.

  • Maintain clean and organized team spaces, including locker rooms, dugouts, and bullpens.

  • Ensure players receive equipment, uniforms, and fulfill deposit requirements.

5. Community & Fan Engagement
  • Lead team participation in youth camps, clinics, and community events.

  • Ensure players and coaches are engaged, approachable, and positive with fans, especially families and children.

  • Represent the Larks at public appearances, media interviews, and local events.

Accountability
  • Regular reporting to the General Manager (bi-weekly in the offseason, weekly in-season).

  • Success measured by:

    • Roster quality and depth

    • Player development and on-field performance

    • Team culture and player accountability

    • Positive satisfaction ratings from players, host families, and front office staff

    • Effective communication and collaboration with the organization
