Overview
The Battle Creek Battle Jacks of the Northwoods League are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Hitting Coach / Base Coach for the 2026 season. This role is ideal for a coach who loves being on the field every day, thrives in a fast-paced, competitive environment, and is committed to developing collegiate hitters over the course of a demanding summer schedule.
We are looking for a coach who brings professionalism, strong communication skills, and a blue-collar work ethic. The ideal candidate is invested in player development, embraces modern hitting concepts, and wants to be part of a staff building something sustainable, competitive, and respected in Battle Creek.

Key Responsibilities
Hitting & Offensive Development
  • Lead all daily hitting work including cage routines, batting practice, on-field drills, and approach-focused training.
  • Develop daily and weekly individual hitting plans for players.
  • Track player progress through video analysis and performance feedback.
  • Assist with in-game offensive adjustments and scouting opposing pitching staffs.
Game & Coaching Responsibilities
  • Serve as an on-field base coach during games.
  • Support the Head Coach with offensive strategy, lineup discussions, and in-game decision making.
  • Maintain a consistent, high-energy presence throughout practices and games.
Recruiting & Collaboration
  • Assist with recruiting efforts alongside the Head Coach and Head of Baseball Strategy.
  • Communicate effectively with college coaches regarding player development and usage.
Team & Operations Support
  • Be willing to assist with general team operations as needed during the season.
  • Uphold Northwoods League rules, team standards, and a professional clubhouse culture.
Qualifications
  • College playing experience required.
  • Coaching experience at the collegiate or summer collegiate level preferred.
  • Strong understanding of modern hitting concepts and player development.
  • Ability to clearly communicate instruction and feedback to collegiate student-athletes.
  • High-energy, professional presence every day throughout the long Northwoods League schedule.
  • Must be fully committed for the entire summer season.
  • Must be able to throw batting practice consistently.
Hiring Process & Compliance
  • Selected candidates will participate in interviews with members of the Battle Jacks coaching staff and baseball leadership.
  • Final candidates will be required to successfully complete background screening and SafeSport training prior to the start of the season.
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting all Northwoods League, team, and applicable compliance requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Housing provided for the duration of the season.
  • Team-issued gear and travel expenses covered.
