About the Role
The Battle Creek Battle Jacks, a proud member of the Northwoods League, are seeking a driven Assistant General Manager (AGM) to be the #2 in the front office and a key partner to the General Manager. This role is ideal for a sports business professional with proven success in food & beverage leadership, corporate partnerships, and sales growth who is ready to step into broader leadership responsibilities.
The Assistant GM will directly oversee concessions, premium hospitality, and group sales, while also taking ownership of corporate sponsorship development. On game days, the AGM will lead critical operational areas and ensure fans, partners, and staff experience a professional, fun, and well-run environment.
This is a high-growth role with significant upward mobility as Southpaw Ventures expands its footprint in baseball and entertainment.

Key Responsibilities
Food & Beverage Leadership
  • Oversee all concessions and hospitality operations, including vendor management, menu development, and premium group spaces.
  • Manage an F&B P&L budget, driving profitability, fan satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • Innovate with new menus and fan-voted items to make F&B a signature part of the ballpark experience.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal F&B staff to ensure smooth game-day operations.
Sales & Partnerships
  • Serve as an individual sales contributor, responsible for prospecting, pitching, and closing new corporate sponsorships.
  • Lead group sales initiatives, specifically corporate and civic group outings.
  • Build and manage six-figure sponsorship portfolios while delivering measurable ROI through creative activations and branding.
Strengthen community and corporate relationships by representing the Battle Jacks with professionalism and energy.
Operations & Leadership
  • Support the GM in day-to-day operations, budget oversight, and strategic planning.
  • Supervise and mentor interns, seasonal staff, and game-day personnel.
  • Assist with stadium setup, ticketing, POS systems, travel logistics, and other operational needs.
  • Be a visible leader in the community, including appearances at civic groups, sponsor events, and media opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, Hospitality, or related field (preferred).
  • 3–5 years of baseball or sports front office experience, with a focus on food & beverage operations and sales. Northwoods League experience a major plus.
  • Proven track record in growing sponsorship, hospitality, and group sales revenue.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing seasonal/game-day staff.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and flexibly cover evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season.
