Company Description
Badlands Big Sticks Baseball is a summer collegiate baseball team located in Dickinson, North Dakota. Founded in 2018, the team has been providing family-oriented entertainment with great baseball to Dickinson and the surrounding communities ever since.
In 2026, the Badlands Big Sticks will enter their 3rd season as members of the Northwoods League - a summer collegiate wood bat league founded in 1994 with 26+ teams across seven states and one province, which has produced over 400 Major Leaguers in its 30-year history.
We are proud to represent the people of Western North Dakota and exemplify the spirit of Theodore Roosevelt.
Internship Information:
- Start Date: 2nd Week of May (TENTATIVE)
- End Date: 2nd Week of August (TENTATIVE)
- Housing provided
- Current enrollment in a college program is required
- Expected to be available for all Badlands Big Sticks home games and team events, this includes weekends and holidays
- Expected to be available during the entirety of games/events from report time through conclusion of responsibilities. Schedule will be dictated by supervisor and is subject to change daily
- Expected to be available on non-game days to attend meetings, work office hours, and complete responsibilities as assigned
- Must be able to aid in all areas of team operation including, but not limited to, ballpark set-up and tear-down on gamedays, pre and post-season cleaning and organization, acting as the mascot when needed, and taking out the trash
Responsibilities
- Call all 36 Badlands Big Sticks home games with engaging play-by-play and/or color commentary.
- Create content for pre- and post-game interviews.
- Produce weekly video interviews with players, coaches, and front office staff.
- Conduct thorough pregame preparation and research for each matchup.
- Assist with player information, statistics, and recordkeeping as needed.
- Support the official scorer when required.
- Assist with ballpark setup and tear down following assigned task lists.
- Contribute to the creation and editing of the pregame lead-in show.
- Maintain a clean and organized press box environment.
- Serve as PA announcer when needed.
- Write post-game recap stories and other press releases with accuracy and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Strong passion for baseball and sports, with experience in a baseball environment preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication, storytelling, and strong, accurate writing skills.
- Comfortable and professional appearing live on camera during interviews and broadcasts.
- Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and professional in a live setting.
- Prior broadcasting, journalism, or media experience is highly valued.
- Strong preparation and research habits.
- Ability to maintain a personal scorebook for added statkeeping and information is highly valued.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season.
