Lead Carpenter

 

DEPARTMENT:      Stadium Operations

REPORTS TO:        Director, Stadium Facilities

FLSA STATUS:       Full-Time, Non-Exempt

 

Description:

The New York Yankees are looking to add a Lead Carpenter to our team. The Lead Carpenter will lead a team of carpenters and repairmen to handle various tasks within the Stadium.  This is a union position and the selected candidate will be required to join the Service Employees International Union, Local 32BJ. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of carpenters and seat repairpersons.
  • Perform skilled carpentry tasks including framing, trim, cabinetry, door/window maintenance, and finish work.
  • Plan and coordinate project activities, events and stadium conversions. 
  • Order materials and tools, ensuring supplies are available.
  • General handyman repairs; troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions on-site.
  • Door and lock maintenance and repairs.
  • Patching and painting.
  • Collaborate with other trades such as electricians and engineers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or GED; vocational training or certification in carpentry preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional carpentry experience, including supervisory roles.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and construction materials.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and construction methods.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, lift up to 50 lbs. and climb on ladders and scaffolding for extended periods of time, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Flexible work schedule, including working games, nights, weekends and holidays as needed for extended hours in an outdoor stadium environment.
