Role Overview
Begin building your resume in the Sports Industry with a fast-paced, hands-on internship experience with the St. Joseph Mustangs. As the Public Relations Intern, you will play a vital role in enhancing the team's public image and engaging with fans and media. The Mustangs have consistently ranked in the Top 15 Nationally for attendance for the past 10 years, continuing that tradition in 2025 with an average of 2,800 guests per game. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to develop skills in media relations, content creation, and event support in a dynamic collegiate summer league baseball environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the official scorekeeper and radio team to record, organize, and distribute game day statistics.
- Produce and distribute a nightly game day stat sheet for fans and media.
- Draft and disseminate post-game reports, press releases, and other media communications to local and regional outlets.
- Assist in managing the team's social media presence, including content creation and engagement.
- Support media relations efforts, including coordinating interviews and providing information to journalists.
- Contribute to the creation of website content, including news articles and player spotlights.
- Assist with various promotional events and community outreach initiatives.
- Ensure a positive and professional representation of the St. Joseph Mustangs brand.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an accredited College or University, with the ability to receive academic credit for the internship.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite); familiarity with social media platforms is a plus.
- Interest in sports, public relations, journalism, or communications.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy service industry environment.
Schedule & Commitment
This internship runs from approximately May 15th to August 1st. Candidates must be available for all St. Joseph Mustangs home games and associated events during this period, including evenings and weekends.
