Are you a driven and results-oriented individual with a passion for sales, business development, and the sports industry? The Sherman Shadowcats are seeking a dynamic Sales & Sponsorship Intern to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the business operations of professional sports, contributing directly to our revenue generation and partner engagement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Actively prospect and identify new potential sponsors and community partners for the 2027 season.
- Initiate outreach to local and regional businesses through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Support the sales team in preparing and delivering compelling sponsorship presentations and participating in sales meetings.
- Assist in the development and presentation of customized sponsorship packages and advertising assets.
- Contribute to the renewal process for existing sponsors, ensuring strong ongoing relationships.
- Generate and qualify leads for various revenue streams, including group tickets, premium seating (suites), season ticket memberships, and corporate events.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the sales and sponsorship databases (CRM).
- Conduct timely follow-ups with prospective partners to nurture relationships and advance sales cycles.
- Collaborate on the creation of tailored sponsorship proposals that align with partner objectives and team assets.
- Track and manage the sales pipeline from initial contact to deal closure, providing regular status updates.
- Conduct market research to identify potential business partners and understand the local economic landscape within Sherman and the broader Texoma area.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, Sales, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate value propositions effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with potential partners and internal team members.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail for database management and lead tracking.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn sales processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint); experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- A genuine passion for sports and a strong interest in a career in sports sales and sponsorship.
