The Sherman Shadowcats are seeking a dynamic Community Relations Intern to join our team. This exciting internship offers a unique opportunity to engage with our local community, support various outreach programs, and contribute to the team's commitment to social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining strong relationships with local schools, youth organizations, and non-profit partners.
- Support the coordination and execution of team and player community appearances, ensuring positive engagement.
- Manage and schedule mascot ("Shade") appearances at community events and functions.
- Facilitate outreach and foster relationships with local youth baseball and softball leagues.
- Research and identify potential community partners and prospects for "Community Night" initiatives and other special events.
- Support the planning and implementation of special programs dedicated to veterans, first responders, and other community groups.
- Maintain and update the community contact database, ensuring accurate and organized records.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to community relations, including preparing materials, tracking participation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate community initiatives with marketing, sales, and game-day operations.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A genuine passion for community engagement and a desire to make a positive difference.
- Knowledge of or interest in the sports industry is a plus.
