Job Summary
R&D Baseball is seeking a Strength & Conditioning Coach who wants to build a career in baseball player development.
R&D is a baseball player development company that works with highly motivated athletes ranging from developing high school players to collegiate and professional baseball players. Our model brings strength & conditioning, pitching, hitting, movement assessment, biomechanics, and performance data together to create comprehensive development plans for each athlete.

Our model brings strength & conditioning, pitching, hitting, movement assessment, biomechanics, and performance data together to create comprehensive development plans for each athlete.
We are looking for an ambitious, intellectually curious coach with a strong foundation in exercise science, kinesiology, or human performance and specific experience working with baseball players.
This is not a position where the strength coach operates independently from the rest of the development staff. You will work directly with R&D's pitching and hitting coaches to evaluate athletes, identify physical opportunities and limitations, and develop training strategies that complement each player's skill-development objectives.
Our ideal candidate understands the demands of the baseball population and has experience coaching and programming for competitive athletes. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone with a growth mindset who wants to continue developing as a coach.
You don't need to arrive knowing everything. You do need to be serious about learning.
R&D values proactive professional development and coaches who challenge existing assumptions. Our staff continually evaluates new research, technology, assessment methods, and training concepts while sharing ideas across disciplines.
For the right coach, this is an opportunity to do more than run a weight room. It is an opportunity to become a better baseball performance and player development professional.

R&D Strength & Conditioning Coach Responsibilities
- Conduct physical and movement assessments for R&D athletes and help continually improve our assessment process.
- Design and implement individualized strength, power, speed, mobility, and movement programs for baseball players.
- Provide high-level technical coaching and maintain training standards on the weight-room floor.
- Work directly with pitching and hitting coaches to develop integrated player development plans.
- Understand how physical qualities and limitations relate to throwing, hitting, movement, workload, and overall baseball performance.
- Monitor athlete progress and adjust programming throughout the training and competitive calendar.
- Build strong relationships with highly motivated high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.
- Educate athletes on recovery, sleep, nutrition, training habits, and long-term physical development.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, medical providers, and R&D throwing coaches during the return-to-performance process for athletes returning from injury.
- Contribute ideas, research, and new insights to the continued evolution of R&D's player development system.
- Participate in continuing education and ongoing staff development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Human Performance, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Health Science, or a closely related field.

- Demonstrated understanding of strength & conditioning principles and the physical demands of the baseball population.
- Strong technical coaching ability and confidence working directly with competitive athletes.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate with coaches across multiple player-development disciplines.
- Strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, professionalism, and a demonstrated commitment to continued learning.

- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and certifications may be considered.
Why R&D Baseball?
R&D Baseball has spent more than a decade building a player development environment where coaches and athletes come to get better.
Founded in 2012, R&D has helped develop more than 35 homegrown MLB Draft selections, along with Major League players, professional players throughout affiliated baseball, and more than 100 collegiate athletes.
Our athletes are serious about their careers, and that creates a different environment for our coaches. You will work every day with players who expect to be challenged, measured, and developed—and with a staff that holds itself to the same standard.
R&D has invested heavily in strength & conditioning, biomechanics, sports science, player assessment, performance technology, and data-driven development. More importantly, those disciplines don't exist in isolation. Our strength coaches work alongside pitching and hitting coaches to solve real player-development problems and build long-term plans for individual athletes.
That environment provides a young coach with something difficult to replicate in a traditional strength & conditioning position: daily exposure to the entire player-development process.
You'll have the opportunity to coach high-level athletes, learn from other disciplines, test and refine ideas, contribute to the evolution of our development system, and take meaningful ownership of your work.
We are not looking to simply fill a position. We want to develop coaches who can become leaders in baseball performance and player development.

The Candidate We're Looking For
You may currently be working in collegiate strength & conditioning, professional baseball, sports science, or a high-level private performance environment and be looking for an opportunity to take the next step in your career.

We want someone who asks questions, studies the field, enjoys solving difficult player-development problems, communicates well with other coaches, and wants meaningful responsibility.
If you are passionate about baseball performance and want to develop alongside serious athletes and coaches, we want to hear from you.
