The PR Manager leads communications across all COLLiDE properties — teams, brands, events, and ventures — and is directly responsible for earned media, founder visibility, and cultural relevance. This role builds and runs a proactive press machine that turns ideas into headlines, partnerships into coverage, and launches into moments.
This is not reactive PR. This is momentum creation.


Core Outcomes 

  • Every major launch covered by credible media
  • Founder regularly featured in interviews, panels, and thought leadership
  • Teams and brands positioned as culture leaders, not just sports properties
  • Consistent monthly earned media volume
  • National + local press relationships on speed dial
Responsibilities

Strategy
  • Own the full PR strategy across COLLiDE, Official League, Portland Pickles, Lake County Captains, Bangers/Cherry Bombs, and new launches
  • Build annual and seasonal press calendars aligned with product drops, schedules, events, and capital raises
  • Identify story angles beyond scores and schedules (culture, community, design, founders, innovation)


Media & Press
  • Build and maintain national, regional, and niche media relationships
  • Pitch proactively every week, not just around launches
  • Secure features, interviews, profiles, podcasts, TV, and speaking opportunities
  • Manage press lists, outlets, and journalist database
  • Coordinate embargoes, exclusives, and timed releases

Founder Visibility
  • Position key leaders as thought leaders in sports, culture, and entrepreneurship
  • Book interviews, podcasts, and panels
  • Draft talking points and prep materials


Launch Execution
  • Lead all communications for:
    • team seasons
    • stadium openings
    • merch drops
    • collaborations
    • events
    • new ventures and acquisitions
  • Write press releases, media advisories, and pitches
  • Coordinate photo/video assets with creative teams
  • Manage press day logistics and on-site media
  • Develop relationships with local and national media and bring new relationships to link our organizations to media

Storytelling
  • Develop compelling narratives that cut through (“why it matters,” not “what happened”)
  • Create media kits and decks for every property
  • Source data, quotes, and visuals that strengthen coverage

Qualifications
  • 3+ years in PR, communications, or media relations
  • Proven track record landing earned media (not just sending releases)
  • Strong relationships with sports, lifestyle, culture, and business media
  • Excellent writer and storyteller
  • Comfortable pitching cold and following up relentlessly
  • Highly organized; can manage multiple launches simultaneously
  • Calm under pressure; thrives in fast-moving environments
  • Sports, apparel, or entertainment experience strongly preferred
