Role Overview: The Seasonal Merch Lead is the right hand to the Manager of Retail who executes merchandise sales during gamedays. Your mission is to own the physical execution of the retail experience during the heat of the season. You are responsible for transforming the inventory into a high-energy, high-revenue fan experience at the stadium and selling merchandise to all fans.
Reporting To: Manager of Retail
Direct Reports: Gameday Interns, Hourly Stadium Staff
Key Responsibilities:
1. Stadium Execution & Logistics
- Setup & Takedown: Lead the daily setup and takedown of stadium retail locations. Ensure all stands are fully stocked, branded, and ready for gates-open.
- On-Site Promotion: Execute on-site promotions, limited-time "drops," and ensure gameday deals are clearly communicated to fans through signage, pricing, visual displays and more.
- Visual Standards: Maintain the stadium merch display and assist with setup and flow- and achieving the visual standards set by the Manager of Retail ensuring products are featured, not just shelved.
2. Production & Technical Support
- The Print Shop: Work directly with Manager of Retail to operate in-house production machinery, including DTF printing and heat presses.
- Machine Maintenance: Assist in the daily upkeep and cleaning of production equipment to ensure zero downtime during the season.
- Oversee On-Site Customization
- Inventory Prep: Coordinate the tagging, bagging, and preparation of "quick-turn" apparel for immediate gameday release.
- Restocks: Receive restocks from our warehouse, and implement as featured each gameday.
3. Leadership & Personnel Management
- Staff Supervision: Manage the flow and performance of gameday interns and hourly staff. You are the first point of contact for staff questions during the event.
- Soccer Integration: Provide leadership and oversight to the two soccer teams (6 games each) ensuring the Portland Bangers FC and Cherry Bombs FC merchandise needs are met with the same intensity as the Pickles.
- Training: Ensure interns are following process on retail best practices, POS (Point of Sale) efficiency, and customer service.
