Position Summary: 
This individual will assist the Minnesota Twins organization in conjunction with the rest of the high-performance team by inspiring players and staff to maximize their potential through interdependent multidisciplinary approaches, innovative menu design, creative implementation strategies, and oversight of the Minnesota Twins Performance Nutrition programs at respective affiliates.
 
The Performance Dietitian will enhance players’ health and performance by creating nutritionally optimal meals and snacks for the players and coaches. As a multidisciplinary team member, this person will work to provide fresh, local, balanced, and nutrient-dense meals tailored specifically to the needs of the players and coaches. This individual is responsible for overall menu planning and execution in partnership with other key stakeholders within Performance.

  • Reinforce the organization’s initiatives in terms of strategy, day-to-day operations, organizational culture, employee expectations, and performance reviews.
  • Work alongside the Performance team to design and implement menus that adhere to the Minnesota Twins’ nutritional standards.
  • Formulate recipes, procure ingredients, and create menus for all players and staff, prioritizing nutrient-dense options to enhance health and performance.
  • Manage and collaborate with other kitchen staff members, front and back of the house, to deliver high-quality experience for players and staff.
  • Prepare and deliver menus for pre-game, post-game, and supplemental meals.
  • Establish relationships with quality, nutritional-minded vendors to procure seasonal, local, and sustainable ingredients.
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards within the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all food handling and sanitation regulations.
  • Understand and accommodate player and staff allergies, fueling needs, or special diets and requests.
  • Control and minimize food waste.
  • Conduct consultations to provide individualized meal plans for players and communicate these plans to staff.
  • Conduct body composition assessments to individualize goal planning.
  • Contribute to Spring Training and Off-Season development camps on an as-needed basis.
  • Assist with road trip menus, including airline, hotel, and visiting stadium food services.
  • Work in conjunction with all our sports medicine, performance nutrition, performance psychology, and performance science staff on to rehab of players and returns to play protocols and their schedules.
  • Take an active role in Player Development and participate in continued education opportunities and promote a progressive culture through a growth-mindset and integrative approach.
  • Integrate with field staff to improve decision-making processes regarding performance enhancement and physical development, including individualized meals plans.
  • Work within our integrated High-Performance staff: Performance (Strength and Conditioning), Sports Medicine (Athletic Training and Physical Therapy), Performance Science, Performance Psychology, and Performance Nutrition on items such as, but not limited to:
    • Pursuing and implementing innovative technologies that pertain to Performance Nutrition.
    • Nutrition initiatives for performance fueling considerations as they pertain to the physiological adaptations/demands from training and the highest level of athletic competition.
    • Assist with supplementation recommendations throughout the organization.
Required Experience and Education: 
  • Required Registered Dietitian certification.
  • 3+ years of Foodservice experience in delivering elite-level culinary delivery to professional sports teams.
  • ServSafe Certification.
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certifications.
  • Maintain professional liability insurance.

  • Independent judgment and the ability to multitask are required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to think outside the box with an exploration mindset and integrative approach.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of departments, seniority levels, and personalities.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Receptive to feedback and working with others.
  • Experience with multicultural populations and the ability to devise menus around the needs of various backgrounds.
  • Willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to travel to other affiliate locations.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Ability to communicate with non-English speaking athletes and staff.
  • Experience working in a collegiate or professional sports setting.
  • Basic understanding of baseball.
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible with job demands and open-minded when given tasks.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift >50lbs
