Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct research aimed at improving the efficacy of Player preparedness efforts, utilizing data collected in-game along with performance data assessed by our Strength and Conditioning staff.
- Utilize statistical methods to identify patterns and trends in player data and develop strategies and tools for communicating those findings to Sports Science, Sports Medicine and Sports Performance staff.
- Support injury risk reduction efforts by enhancing current workload monitoring efforts while researching potential improvements and new methodologies.
- Use statistical analysis tools to assess the quality of (new) data sources, potentially including wearables, assessments, force plates, on-field tracking, and biomechanics.
- Collaborate with other members of Baseball Research and Baseball Systems groups to create production caliber analysis.
- Identify and integrate scientific best practices for Sports Science.
- Prepare reports and presentations on research findings for coaches, players, and management.
- Stay current with emerging research and technology in the field of Sports Science.
Requirement Experience and Education:
- Educational or work experience equivalent to a Graduate-level degree in Sports Science, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or other related fields.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Practical experience with statistics, data science, or applied analytics – especially in the educational domains outlined.
- Experience working and communicating with field staff (coaches, trainers, etc.) in a high-level collegiate or professional athletic organization (baseball not required).
- Familiarity with current technologies commonly leveraged in Sports Science (wearables, force plates, dynamometers, GPS tracking, motion capture, training tools, assessments, etc.)
- Familiarity with R, Python, Matlab or similar statistical programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed (specific amount is negotiable).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- NSCA, CSCS or CPSS certifications.
- 2+ years of experience.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $58,000 to $85,000 annually. This role is also eligible for a performance-based bonus, which varies based on company and individual performance. Total cash compensation will depend on bonus payouts and will likely exceed base salary.
