Who we are: We’re the West Michigan Whitecaps, High-A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The Whitecaps are in the fun business and our mission is to provide affordable family entertainment that strengthens the West Michigan community. You’re a creative-minded thinker with experience building and implementing strategic marketing plans and budgets. You’re metric-driven, and know your way around SEO, digital advertising campaigns and know how to generate revenue from social media without paying for it. What you’ll do: You'll provide strategic direction and leadership of the entire Whitecaps marketing department, which includes promotions, community relations, digital/social media, branding, graphics, and metrics/analytics. You’ll oversee the creation, communication, and execution of all brand elements. You’ll work closely with all departments (Sales, Merchandise, Operations, HR, Accounting and Events) to efficiently service all promotional needs and external communications. You’ll serve as a goodwill ambassador for the West Michigan Whitecaps, working closely with vendors, media members, and ad agencies. Like the rest of us, you’ll also wear many hats for different games and events, and you’ll also tarp the field a few times…. You’ll have fun doing it all!

What you need: You’ll need at least 5 years in a marketing leadership role, preferably within the sports industry. Experience developing & implementing an annual strategic marketing plan. We’re very proud of the creative team we have in place, so you’ll need to have prior success leading and mentoring staff. You’ll need excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, a good attitude, and willingness to work some interesting hours in order to get the job done. An MBA would be preferred, as well as certifications in digital strategy, data management, content creation & social media; a strong baseball or sports knowledge obviously wouldn’t hurt!
