Position Overview
The Peoria Chiefs are seeking an energetic, reliable, and customer-focused Merchandise Associate to assist with daily operations of the Peoria Chiefs Team Store. This position plays a key role in delivering a first-class fan experience by providing exceptional service, maintaining store presentation, and supporting game day retail operations.
This is a seasonal position aligned with the baseball season.
Essential Responsibilities
Retail & Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner
- Provide product knowledge and recommendations
- Process transactions accurately using POS system
- Handle cash and credit card transactions responsibly
Inventory & Merchandising
- Restock shelves and displays
- Assist with inventory counts and tracking
- Maintain organized stockroom and sales floor
- Ensure merchandise displays are clean, attractive, and fully stocked
Game Day Operations
- Prepare Team Store prior to gates opening
- Assist with high-volume sales during games
- Support special promotions and theme nights
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout events
General Duties
- Open and/or close the Team Store when scheduled
- Assist with receiving shipments and tagging merchandise
- Support online or special order fulfillment as needed
- Represent the Peoria Chiefs brand in a positive and professional manner
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Dependable and punctual
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- Basic math skills and cash handling experience preferred
- Retail experience is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Ability to move merchandise and stock items regularly
Schedule
- On the Road (No Home Games): There will be designated times daily that the store will be open and you will be expected to work during those hours.
- Home Game Days: There will be a designated start time based on the start time of the game and you will be expected to work through the end of the game, including closing the store for the night.
- Must be available for all home games and occasional special events.
