Role Summary
The Broadcast & Game Day Production Operator provides students, recent graduates, and aspiring broadcast professionals the opportunity to gain comprehensive, hands-on experience in live sports production. This role serves as a key member of the Lake County Captains media and promotions team, supporting both MiLB broadcast production and in-game entertainment operations at Classic Park.

This is a game-day only position requiring availability on nights, weekends, and select holidays throughout the baseball season. Team members may rotate responsibilities across multiple production areas including broadcast control room and in-stadium production.
Essential Responsibilities

MiLB Broadcast Production
Camera Switcher / Technical Director

  • Operate the broadcast camera switcher to shape the live MiLB broadcast presentation.
  • Switch between high home, center field, and on-field/remote cameras.
  • Manage graphics integration including score bugs, commercial slates, and replay activation.

    Replay Operator (MIRA)

  • Operate replay systems to capture and cut key game moments including home runs, strikeouts, and defensive highlights.
  • Build and produce a postgame “MELT” package for digital distribution, including team YouTube content.
  • Import, organize, and manage all replay assets during live production.

Graphics Operator

  • Generate and operate broadcast graphics including lower thirds, score bugs, and sponsor elements.

    Camera Operator

  • Operate center field, high home, or on-field cameras during live game action and in-game features.
  • Assist with camera setup and teardown.
In-Game / Production Room Operations
Video Board Operator

  • Operate the in-house video board, including player headshots, hype videos, sponsored content, and live camera feeds.
  • Coordinate live shots and entertainment elements between innings.

    Sound Board Operator

  • Operate the audio board and music system.
  • Execute sound effects, player walk-up music, and promotional audio elements.
  • Help create an energetic and engaging ballpark atmosphere throughout the game.

LED Scoreboard Operator
  • Manage the traditional scoreboard including inning-by-inning scoring, player stats, and game information.

    General Production Duties
  • Assist with importing and formatting new content into A/V systems.
  • Support season-long A/V setup and maintenance projects.
  • Collaborate with the Game Day Director and Broadcast Director to execute a seamless live production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Current enrollment in or recent graduate of a bachelor’s degree program in Broadcasting, Communications, Sports Management, or related field preferred. Post-graduate candidates are welcome.
  • Intermediate knowledge of baseball required.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of live A/V or broadcast production equipment preferred.
  • Experience with Ross MIRA, switchers, audio boards, or graphics systems is a plus.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work all home games, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure live production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute precise timing during live broadcasts.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to enhance both broadcast and in-stadium presentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with directors, broadcasters, promotions staff, and team personnel.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.

Working Environment / Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended game-day shifts.
  • Occasionally lift A/V equipment and production materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant communication with production team members and broadcasters; must be able to accurately exchange information.
  • Work may take place outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
