The Cedar Rapids Kernels are seeking a motivated, career-driven individual pursuing a future in the sports business industry. This full-time, paid internship offers hands-on experience in ticketing, sales, and event operations with both the Cedar Rapids Kernels (High-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, Midwest League) and the Waterloo Bucks (Northwoods League). Both teams are owned by the Cedar Rapids Ball Club, Inc.

Position Details

·        Start/ End Date: Must be available part-time (Jan–Mar 2026) and full-time (Mar–Sept)

  • Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (office-based, with travel to Waterloo as needed)
  • Compensation: $800 monthly stipend + commission on ticket sales
Primary Responsibilities

Ticket Sales & Customer Service

  • Sell and manage group outings (15–250+ guests), ticket packages, and single-game tickets for both the Kernels and Bucks.
  • Generate sales primarily through phone calls and email outreach.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales calls, leads, and transactions.
  • Work directly with the Group Sales Supervisor to coordinate and finalize group bookings.
Game Day Operations

  • Assist with Kernels home games and special events (expect 50+ hours/week in season).
  • Support pre-game setup, ticketing, guest services, promotions, and other assigned duties.
  • Operate the Will Call window and assist in box office operations during games.
  • Help manage game day staff (ushers, security, ticket takers, etc.) and provide customer service support throughout the season.
Ticket Office Support

  • Assist the Ticket Office Manager with day-to-day operations, including scheduling part-time staff and ensuring smooth box office function.
  • Learn and help train others on the Kernels’ ticketing system.
  • Print and distribute group tickets, coordinate with the Ticket Manager, and ensure all ticket orders are processed accurately.
  • Participate in planning and executing promotional, community, and theme nights.
Additional Duties

  • Support non-game day events, ballpark promotions, and special functions.
  • Assist with concessions operations as needed (no cooking required).
  • Collaborate with fellow interns on initiatives such as 50/50 raffle ticket sales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a great fan experience.
Qualifications

  • Strong interest in sports management, marketing, or sales.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
  • Commitment to outstanding customer service and teamwork.
  • Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Previous customer service or supervisory experience preferred but not required.
