Overview:
The Cedar Rapids Kernels are looking for energetic and motivated individuals to join our 2026 internship team! This hands-on opportunity will provide experience in food & beverage management, and event execution across both Kernels games and special events. Interns should expect to work all home games, along with various community and private events, including those at outside venues throughout the Cedar Rapids area.
Interns will be an essential part of the team — learning the ins and outs of customer service, leadership, and teamwork in a fun and fast-paced baseball environment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Set up and restock concessions stands prior to Kernels home games and special events.
  • Assist with placing and receiving food and beverage orders.
  • Support food preparation and product rotation to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
  • Assisting with staffing, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring top-notch customer service.
  • Help oversee cleanliness and organization of food and beverage facilities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to fans, partners, and staff.
  • Represent the Kernels at outside venues for community events, off-site promotions, caterings, or satellite concessions operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Hardworking, organized, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to step outside your comfort zone and learn new skills.
  • Must be a college student or recent graduate pursuing a career in sports management, event management, marketing, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in food service, customer service, or events is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
