The AGM will be responsible for the overall day-to-day business operations, strategy, tactics and P&L for Gateway Professional Baseball in Beloit, Wisconsin, as well as represent and be a very prominent “cheerleader” and advocate for the Beloit Baseball team within the community.

Essential Functions by Company Pillar

Service
  • During games and non-game day events, encourage others team members and self to achieve memorable experiences for attendees and co-workers. Success will be measured from various survey results.
  • Support GM in achievement of measured results.
Quality
  • Maintain highest standards of operations to all attendees, co-workers and league requirements through effective and efficient leadership. Success will be measured from various survey results.
  • Maintain awareness and track progress towards MiLB trends and success of other baseball operations. Success will be a result of regular reporting of initiatives and tracking progress towards implementation.
Growth
  • Work with the General Manager and marketing team to provide strategic direction and leadership to the corporate sales team to achieve and exceed revenue targets
  • Heavy focus on generating corporate sales and ticket sales revenue via employee outings from local, regional and national brands in the medical, education, automotive, financial, retail, and restaurant categories; among others. Success measured through sales reporting results.
People
  • Provide guidance to sales staff with the achievement of their goals through support, development and encouragement. Success measured through sales reporting results.
  • Create and develop relationships within the community through attendance at community events outside of baseball. Success measured through observations and tracking of attendance.
  • Engage with and develop staff through use of HRIS system tools for understanding skills and learning style of each direct report. Success measured through HRIS tracking.
  • Work closely with marketing to support team and organizational growth in the communities we serve.
Finance
  • Heavy focus on personal and team sales, corporate, ticket (both season and individual games), and events (game-day and non-baseball). Measured through sales reports and financial statement results compared to budget.
  • Actively monitor operations to achieve efficient and effective use of ownership assets. Measured through financial reporting.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Successful track, record and experience thriving in a matrixed, shared services, highly collaborative business model
  • Collaboration, integration and inclusion are crucial abilities for this role
  • Experience in developing and executing business plans and delivering results in a high-growth, start-up environment
  • Knowledge of and passion for the sport of baseball and a deep understanding of the various segments of baseball fans
  • Experience in leading creative development and in driving consistent execution across various consumer touchpoints
  • Experience using data and analytics to gain deep understanding of customers and their behaviors across various touch points
  • Experience with membership-related activities including loyalty programs, reducing customer churn, nurturing current members, and recruiting new members
  • Ability to develop effective marketing strategies and integrated business plans and to drive successful execution to deliver business results
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, matrixed environment
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously and to prioritize among competing initiatives
  • Ability to articulate a point of view and to influence across the organization
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving start-up environment and the ability to wear multiple hats when necessary to get the job done

Education & Experience
Minimum five years of executive sports industry leadership and strategic planning experience. Experience working with professional sports teams and/or leagues is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The key physical requirements of this position include the ability to walk and stand for an extended period of time, lift up to 30 pounds, and the use of standard office equipment including computers.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a regular, full-time, exempt position. Days and hours will vary to include evening and weekend work according to business needs.
