Fellowship Overview
The Miami Marlins are seeking a Strength & Conditioning Fellow to support the physical preparation and return-to-sport processes for the Jupiter Hammerheads and rehabilitating athletes at the Miami Marlins’ Jupiter Academy.
This fellowship is designed as a high exposure, applied development role within a professional baseball high-performance environment. The Fellow will work closely with Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Sports Medicine staff, and Baseball Operations personnel, contributing to both on-field performance training and rehabilitation-based return-to-sport training.
This role requires exceptional professionalism, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to be held accountable to high standards while working with professional athletes and experienced high-performance staff.

Training Philosophy & Performance Environment
The Miami Marlins’ physical preparation approach emphasizes robust, adaptable athletes developed through a data-informed training process that prioritizes outcomes over assumptions. Training is built around five integrated pillars:

Programming is guided by systematic player profiling, clearly defined objectives, and ongoing feedback to ensure training decisions are purposeful, adaptable, and aligned with on-field performance demands. Emphasis is placed on general qualities that underpin performance, progressing toward greater specificity as appropriate, while maintaining durability across long competitive seasons.
The Fellow will operate within a collaborative high-performance model, integrating with baseball coaches and sports medicine staff to support performance, availability, and long-term athlete development.

Fellowship Learning Objectives
Throughout the fellowship, the Fellow will be expected to develop:
•Applied coaching skills in a professional baseball environment
•Exposure to performance training and return-to-sport integration
•Understanding of data-informed assessment, monitoring, and reporting
•Professional communication within interdisciplinary teams
•Decision-making under real-world performance constraints

Development will be supported through education, observation, hands-on experience, and structured feedback from the Jupiter Academy Manager and Rehab Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Primary Responsibilities
The Strength & Conditioning Fellow will assist with, but not be limited to, the following:
•Assisting with daily strength and conditioning sessions for the Jupiter Hammerheads
•Supporting return-to-sport training for rehabilitating athletes
•Assisting with session planning, implementation, and coaching execution
•Supporting physical assessments, data collection, monitoring, and reporting
•Participating in interdisciplinary collaboration with sports medicine and performance staff
•Assisting with administrative and operational duties as needed

Responsibilities will progress based on demonstrated competence, professionalism, and trust.

Mentorship & Supervision
•Direct mentorship from the Jupiter Academy Manager and Rehab Strength & Conditioning Coach
•Regular observation and feedback opportunities
•Ongoing formal and informal education

This fellowship is intentionally structured to prioritize development over autonomy early, with increasing responsibility over time.

Qualifications
Required:

•Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field
•CSCS certification (mandatory)
•Prior coaching experience through collegiate or professional internships
•Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
Preferred:
•Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field
•Experience working in baseball or high-performance sport settings
Minimum Requirements:
•Availability Monday through Sunday, including mornings and/or evenings as required
•Ability to stand for extended periods and lift weights typically found in a gym setting
•Ability to demonstrate athletic movements
•Successful completion of a background check and drug screening
• Ability to uphold organizational standards of professionalism and conduct

Time Commitment & Duration
•Full-time seasonal fellowship
•Variable schedule based on team, rehab, and operational demands
•Tentative dates: March 1 – September 30, 2026

Compensation & Benefits
•$14/hour + overtime
•$1,300/month live out stipend
