Position Summary
The Sous Chef plays a vital leadership role in the Jupiter-based high-performance culinary operation, supporting the daily execution of nutrition-forward meals for elite athletes. This position works closely with the Chef de Cuisine, team dietitians, and performance staff to ensure food service aligns with training demands, recovery needs, and competitive schedules.
The Sous Chef is both a hands-on culinary leader and an operational support manager—responsible for maintaining food quality, consistency, safety, and service standards while helping lead and develop the kitchen team. This role is ideal for a motivated chef who thrives in a structured, high-expectation environment and is passionate about food, nutrition, and athlete performance.
 
Essential Functions
Athlete Nutrition & Culinary Execution
  • Execute menus aligned with performance and recovery goals
  • Ensure accurate preparation of individualized meals, allergies, and dietary needs
  • Lead food production with consistency in recipes, portions, and presentation
Menu & Service Support
  • Assist the Chef de Cuisine with menu development, recipe testing, and documentation
  • Maintain consistency across meal services, retail offerings, and events
  • Provide feedback on menu performance and athlete satisfaction
Kitchen Leadership
  • Supervise kitchen operations and staff during assigned shifts
  • Train and coach team members on recipes, sanitation, and standards
  • Promote a positive, professional, and high-performance kitchen culture
Food Safety & Operations
  • Enforce ServSafe, HACCP, and health department standards
  • Monitor food handling, storage, labeling, and cleanliness
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory, and waste control
Communication & Support
  • Serve as a key link between kitchen staff, the Chef de Cuisine, and performance teams
  • Support scheduling, coverage, special events, and operational initiatives

Skill Requirements 
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments
  • Ability to follow recipes, production sheets, and verbal/written instructions
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently under pressure
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
 
Education & Experience Guidelines 
·         3–5+ years of culinary experience with 1–2 years in a leadership role
·         Experience in athlete dining or nutrition-focused environments preferred
·         Strong culinary fundamentals, organization, and leadership skills
·         Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
·         ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (current or obtained within timeframe)
Work Environment 
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
  • Requires daily interaction with professional athletes, coaches, and staff; professionalism, discretion, and a high level of respect are essential
  • Must consistently demonstrate a customer service mindset, with the ability to anticipate needs, respond to feedback, and contribute to a positive clubhouse and staff environment
