Position Summary
The Senior Cook plays a critical leadership role within the on-site catering and nutrition operation, supporting daily food production while setting the standard for quality, consistency, and professionalism. This position requires advanced culinary skills, the ability to execute and lead high-volume production, and a strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations. The Senior Cook works independently and collaboratively with kitchen leadership to ensure efficient workflows, successful event execution, and an exceptional dining experience for athletes, coaches, and staff.

Essential Functions
Culinary & Production Responsibilities
  • Execute advanced food preparation and cooking tasks according to standardized recipes, menus, and production schedules
  • Lead preparation for large-scale, high-volume catering events, including batch cooking and service-ready production
  • Perform advanced knife work, portioning, and product fabrication with speed and precision
  • Prepare and cook food using various techniques, including roasting, grilling, sautéing, baking, and finishing
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and taste across all meals and events
Leadership & Operational Support
  • Serve as a day-to-day culinary lead, supporting chefs with kitchen flow, prep execution, and service readiness
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and guiding prep cooks and junior kitchen staff
  • Provide feedback and coaching to reinforce standards, efficiency, and best practices
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership to anticipate needs, identify challenges, and propose solutions
Food Safety & Organization
  • Uphold and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Ensure proper labeling, dating, storage, rotation, and handling of all food products following FIFO procedures
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store deliveries in compliance with food safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen environment at all times
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and workstations throughout shifts

Skill Requirements 
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments
  • Ability to follow recipes, production sheets, and verbal/written instructions
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently under pressure
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
 
Education & Experience Guidelines 
·         Minimum 4+ years of experience in a professional kitchen, catering, or high-volume food service environment
·         Prior experience in a lead prep cook, line cook, or senior cook role preferred
·         Advanced knife skills and strong foundation in professional cooking techniques
·         Thorough understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling
·         Food Handler or Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent) required 
Work Environment 
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
  • Requires daily interaction with professional athletes, coaches, and staff; professionalism, discretion, and a high level of respect are essential
  • Must consistently demonstrate a customer service mindset, with the ability to anticipate needs, respond to feedback, and contribute to a positive clubhouse and staff environment
