Position Summary
The International Player Development (PD) Coach will play a critical role in bridging scouting and player development within the Marlins’ international program. This role is designed to ensure that international amateur players who join the organization receive world-class development support from day one, while also serving as a resource during tryouts, showcases, and developmental camps. The PD Coach will focus on building foundational habits, reinforcing organizational standards, and accelerating players’ transition into professional baseball through structured teaching, strength & conditioning, and holistic development.

Essential Functions
• Act as a liaison between scouts, PD staff, and Miami leadership to maintain alignment on data/scouting integration.
• Deliver daily on-field instruction in hitting, defense, baserunning, and game fundamentals tailored to international amateur players.
• Teach proper movement patterns, body control, and efficient mechanics with emphasis on long-term athletic projection.
• Implement individualized player development plans in coordination with Player Development and Strength & Conditioning staff.
• Coordinate with S&C coaches to instill proper training habits, recovery routines, and nutrition basics for adolescent athletes.
• Lead warmups, mobility sessions, and strength fundamentals with a focus on safe, age-appropriate progression.
• Monitor player workload, wellness, and physical development to ensure sustainable growth.
• Reinforce organizational standards and teaching points during combines, assessments, and daily practice environments.
• Collaborate with Scouting to provide developmental context on committed and newly signed players.
• Document player progress and development updates
• Provide regular feedback to international scouting and PD leadership on player strengths, weaknesses, and growth areas.
• Participate in cross-departmental meetings to align player development goals with scouting evaluations and organizational philosophy.
• Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting professionalism, accountability, and strong work habits among international players.
• Uphold the Marlins’ identity as a data-driven, process-oriented, and development-focused organization.
• Foster a positive learning environment that supports players’ adaptation to professional baseball both on and off the field.

Skill Requirements
• Strong technical background in baseball technology (Trackman, Blast, Rapsodo, Force Plates, Vald, Edgertronic preferred).
• Strong understanding of modern player development concepts in hitting, defense, baserunning, and game fundamentals.
• Familiarity with biomechanics, movement efficiency, and teaching methods for adolescent athletes.
• Working knowledge of player-tracking and development technology (Blast Motion, Trackman, Force Plates, Vald, high-speed video).
• Ability to teach proper warm-up, mobility, and strength fundamentals
• Understanding of nutrition, recovery, and workload management principles.
• Experience integrating S&C programs with skill development.
• Proven ability to break down complex concepts into simple, actionable teaching points.
• Effective communicator with adolescent athletes, especially in bilingual/multicultural environments.
• Strong collaboration skills to align with Player Development, Scouting, and Performance staff.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
• High emotional intelligence, patience, and ability to connect with players from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust, reinforce discipline, and mentor young athletes.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and consistent in documentation of player progress.
• Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven environment.
• Growth mindset: adaptable, open to feedback, and committed to continuous learning.

Education & Experience Guidelines
• Minimum 2+ years of baseball-related work experience preferred.
• Background in playing baseball is preferred but not required.

Work Environment
• Availability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, often in outdoor environments.
