The Miami Marlins are seeking a dedicated and dynamic ESL Teacher to join our Jupiter team. This part-time role involves teaching English to international ballplayers approximately 2-3 hours in the evening and assisting with other tasks depending on availability. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of the players, conducting assessments to track progress, and providing weekly updates on student performance to the Director of Education. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, knowledge of effective language learning strategies and the ability to create an engaging environment for a diverse group of learners.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop dynamic and engaging lesson plans and teach effective language lessons for players to improve their L2 (face to face and virtually)
• Develop bilingual resources for players and coaches
• Assess student progress regularly and communicate progress and areas for improvement to the Director on a weekly basis
• Continually identify needs of students to guide instructional practices
• Maintain accurate attendance records
• Serve as a model of professionalism for students
• Assist with the translation of documents and presentation when needed
• Participate in other team events when available
Qualifications:
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish with strong verbal and written skills
• Experience teaching ESL and demonstrated pedagogical skills in ESL instruction
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Good teammate and open to receiving constructive feedback
• Familiarity with baseball and some knowledge of player development is a PLUS
• Skilled using digital tools for language instruction and communication
