Position Summary
The Director, Integrated Media oversees all Miami Marlins broadcast operations and content execution across Marlins.TV (Linear and DTC) and radio. This role is responsible for ensuring best-in-class coverage of Marlins baseball through live game broadcasts, pregame and postgame programming, shoulder content, and special productions. The Director serves as the primary liaison between the Marlins, Broadcast team, Major League Baseball, local and national media rights partners, production vendors, and internal stakeholders while overseeing all technical, operational, and creative aspects of the Marlins broadcast department.
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep experience in live sports production, broadcast operations, media rights management, and cross-functional collaboration. This individual will play a key role in enhancing the Marlins fan experience, growing audience engagement, sponsorable assets and maximizing the value of the organization’s broadcast assets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Broadcast Operations & Production
- Oversee all television, radio, streaming, and digital broadcast operations for Miami Marlins home and road games.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Marlins, Major League Baseball, local and national media rights holders, production partners, and technical vendors.
- Ensure seamless execution and delivery of all live game broadcasts, including pregame, in-game, and postgame programming.
- Manage production workflows for Marlins-related shoulder programming, feature content, special events, and offseason broadcasts.
- Direct all broadcast-related technical operations, including transmission, signal flow, connectivity, and production logistics.
- Lead planning and execution of remote productions, spring training broadcasts, special events, and MLB-wide initiatives.
- Oversee broadcast graphics, replay operations, talent integration, video features, interview content, and supplemental programming.
Content Strategy & Audience Engagement
- Develop and execute a year-round broadcast content strategy and programming calendar that enhances fan engagement across television, radio, streaming, and digital channels.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Social Media, Content, and Communications teams to align broadcast storytelling with organizational priorities.
- Identify opportunities to innovate broadcast presentations through emerging technologies, enhanced fan experiences, and data-driven insights.
- Review and provide direction on broadcast content, editing, storytelling, and production quality standards.
Partnership & Rights Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all broadcast-related matters involving Major League Baseball, media rights partners, and league stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with local and national television, radio, streaming and over-the-air (OTA) partners to ensure contractual compliance and operational excellence.
- Oversee execution of sponsorship integrations, commercial inventory, branded content, virtual signage, and in-game promotional elements across broadcast platforms.
- Partner closely with Corporate Partnerships to maximize revenue opportunities and deliver contractual broadcast assets.
Leadership & Administration
- Lead and manage broadcast department personnel, including full-time staff, freelance crew members, on-air talent, production personnel, and technical contractors.
- Establish departmental goals, workflows, performance standards, and development plans.
- Oversee department operating budgets, including forecasting, expense management, production costs, vendor agreements, and capital expenditures.
- Monitor broadcast performance metrics, audience analytics, and consumption trends to inform strategic decision-making.
- Ensure all broadcast operations adhere to MLB regulations, media rights agreements, and industry best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with, Marketing, Communications, Community Relations, Corporate Partnerships, Ballpark Operations, and Fan Engagement departments to support organizational objectives.
- Assist with broader Media & Communications initiatives, including major events, league activities, media relations opportunities, and organizational announcements.
- Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Media Production, Technology, or a related field.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in sports broadcasting, live production, broadcast operations, or related media environments.
- Experience managing live sports productions, remote broadcasts, and technical production teams.
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple projects and managing complex operational workflows.
- Strong knowledge of television, radio, streaming, and digital media production environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and execute under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard production software, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
