Primary Objective: This position will serve as a multifaceted support role in the amateur forecasting & player evaluation initiatives spaces. This role combines data, technology and video responsibilities to create efficient processes in preparation for the Rule 4 Draft. In addition to helping carry out Marlins' forecasting and scouting practices, this individual will also interface with international scouting, player development, R&D and other branches of the other organization to help execute new and existing evaluation initiatives, and maintain standardized practices across the organization. This position may be located at our Jupiter Academy.
Essential Functions
- Assist video capture, video editing and administrative efforts for department information-gathering.
- Organize the collection of digital and statistical inputs.
- Support baseball operations leadership in scaling player evaluation initiatives, spearheading technical operations in various settings.
- Aid regional scouts, crosscheckers and coordinators in maintaining alignment of scouting/video integration.
- Travel to workout sites/affiliates needed to aid in collecting, processing and analysis of data.
- Collaborate with Baseball Solutions and Systems staff on integrating scouting reports and objective information into internal platforms.
- Live and video player-evaluation as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient baseball technology (TrackMan, Blast, Force Plates, Kinvent, Rapsodo, VALD) familiarity.
- Advanced in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Demonstrated experience or exposure to camera operations and video editing platforms.
- Exceptional organization and communication skills.
- Strong foundation of modern evaluation practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience or exposure with R, SQL or other data visualization and manipulation tools.
- At least one year of work experience in professional baseball. Equivalent, relevant work experience could be considered in lieu of this.
