Position Summary
As an Area Scout based in Venezuela, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and reporting on amateur baseball talent in your assigned area. This role involves building strong relationships within the baseball community, providing detailed scouting reports, and collaborating with other members of the International Scouting Department. A passion for player evaluation, a strong understanding of amateur baseball, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Essential Functions
• Provide written scouting evaluations on amateur players throughout the year via in-person and video coverage.
• Create and maintain preference lists for current and future international players.
• Gather both subjective and objective data on players, including off-field makeup, injury history, and background information.
• Coordinate game and workout schedules within the assigned area.
• Conduct player visits and assist with interviews and assessments.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with players, coaches, agents, and advisors.
• Submit scouting reports from local and assigned events, including pro scouting opportunities.
• Organize workouts in coordination with leadership and support departments.
• Collaborate with crosscheckers and other Baseball Operations personnel to ensure comprehensive player evaluations.
• Perform full background coverage for players identified by the front office.
• Contribute ideas for improving the department’s processes and performance.
• Complete administrative responsibilities including scouting reports, expenses, scheduling, and injury documentation.
• Attend regional and full staff scouting meetings as required.

Skill Requirements
• Proficient scouting ability and strong baseball knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly organized with excellent time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information.
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Spanish fluency preferred (if not already implied by role location).

Education & Experience Guidelines
• Minimum 2+ years of baseball-related work experience preferred.
• Background in playing baseball is preferred but not required.

Work Environment
• Frequent travel within the assigned region and occasional international travel.
• Availability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, often in outdoor environments.
