Position Summary
As an Area Scout in the Dominican Republic, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating amateur baseball talent within your assigned area. This role involves in-person and video scouting, gathering critical player information, and building strong relationships with key figures in the international baseball landscape. Strong baseball acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate insights effectively are essential for success in this position.

Essential Functions
• Provide written scouting evaluations on amateur players throughout the year in assigned area via in-person and video coverage; create and update preference lists for current and future players.
• Support the International Scouting Department by gathering subjective and objective information about amateur players, including off-field makeup, objective testing, injury history, and background information.
• Organize and communicate scheduling for international baseball games within the assigned area, focusing on amateur and committed players.
• Conduct visits with players and assist in the execution of player interviews and assessments.
• Build and maintain relationships with players, player support systems, coaches, advisors, and other key figures related to international baseball.
• Provide written scouting evaluations at local events and as assigned by International Scouting leadership.
• Coordinate workouts with International Scouting leadership and supporting departments to assist in player evaluations.
• Work with crosscheckers and other Baseball Operations staff to enhance scouting skills and ensure thorough collection, organization, and analysis of relevant player data.
• Complete evaluative and background coverage of all players, including those flagged by the front office.
• Communicate regularly with International Scouting leadership and the front office to improve scouting processes and team efficiency.
• Manage administrative tasks in a timely and professional manner, including scouting reports, expense tracking, schedule updates, and player information management.
• Attend regional and full staff scouting meetings throughout the year.

Skill Requirements
• Proficient scouting ability and baseball knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with scouts, players, coaches, and front office personnel.
• Strong administrative skills to ensure proper documentation and tracking of all international players.
• Passion for baseball, excellent problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to travel on a sporadic basis and work unpredictable hours, including nights and weekends.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Baseball playing background is preferred but not required.

Education & Experience Guidelines
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of baseball-related work experience preferred.
• Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic scouting environment is a plus.

Work Environment
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
