The Wilmington Blue Rocks are seeking qualified and motivated applicants for their 2026 Grounds Crew. Duties for this position include assisting the Director of Field Operations with game setup and field maintenance duties associated with professional baseball for all home games and special events during the 2026 season.
Applicants should have general knowledge of how to work with hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and small power tools such as backpack blowers, edgers, power washers, etc.
Essential Functions:
- Daytime: Assist with edging, bullpen maintenance, mound/plate repair, and setting up batting practice equipment
- Pre-Game & In-Game: Assist with the removal of batting practices equipment, dragging of infield skin, chalking foul lines, removal of tarps, assisting with on-field activities
- Assist with non-Blue Rocks field events
- Other duties as assigned by Head Groundskeeper
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work and represent the Blue Rocks in a professional manner
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability and willingness to learn new techniques, skills, and practices
Job Requirements/Preferences:
- Having/pursuing a turf management degree or prior turf experience preferred
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and assist with the installation and removal of the field tarp in inclement weather situations
- Work hours include daytime, evenings, weekends and some holidays, as applicable
