Summary of Position:
The Merchandise and Community Relations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail and merchandise operations, as well as all of the team’s charitable and community relations programs. This position manages all aspects of the team’s merchandise operations, including purchasing, marketing, inventory control, staffing, training, cost controls, accounting procedures and the operation of in-park and online retail outlets. This role also assists with donation fulfillment, team charitable work and mascot appearances. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to work collaboratively to develop and execute impactful community partnerships, as well as a successful merchandise strategy.
 

Major Job Duties Include but are not Limited to:
·         Drive merchandise sales with innovation and promotions
·         Maintain proper inventory levels
·         Order, receive and display all merchandise while ensuring margins are maintained
·         Select, purchase, and manage inventory levels of the team store and e-commerce platform
·         Identify and vet potential vendors for purchasing
·         Develop storage plan to assure easy access and accountability of merchandise.
·         Develop sales plan to maximize sales both online and in-park.
·         Stay up to date on the latest trends and MLB rules pertaining to consumer products
·         Assist in the development of programs that result in increased customer satisfaction.
·         Fulfill all online orders in a timely manner
·         Prepare and maintain accurate inventory records
·         Maintain accurate inventory of gift cards and process all gift card transactions
·         Maintain a consistent merchandise advertisement schedule on social media platforms
·         Develop a retail strategy to identify popular items, promotions, and price points to meet projected revenue goals
·         Provide the Director of Finance with monthly reports such as cost of goods sold, merchandise reduction, and purchasing invoices
·         Create and maintain all jersey auctions throughout the season
·         Create an inviting retail store layout and displays that promote the team store 
·         Supervise team store staff and intern(s) including scheduling and delegation of tasks
·         Book National Anthem performers for all home games
·         Fulfill all donation requests monthly and properly tracking all outgoing donations
·         Develop and execute all mascot and community appearances 
·         Oversee the team’s reading program and kids club
·         Track the volunteer hours for all full-time staff members
·         Coordinate staff volunteer outings throughout the year
·         Work with local nonprofit organizations to grow our community footprint
·         Oversee and run the community all-star program
·         Perform other duties as assigned
 
Education and Experience:
·         1-2 years of retail/merchandise experience
·         Familiarity with retail POS systems, Microsoft Office platforms, and e-commerce platforms.
 
Abilities:
·         Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
·         Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
·         Ability to life up to 40 pounds
·         Strong time management and organizational skills
·         Ability to hire and train part time staff members
·         Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects 
 
Context:
·         40 hours per week in the off season
·         70-80 hours per week during the season
