For next season, we are seeking a curious, creative, and hard-working teammate to join our player development group as the Baseball Coaching & Technology Assistant. This position will be based at our Spring Training/Minor League training complex, Camelback Ranch, in Glendale, AZ. We are open to candidates from any background and seek someone who will use the opportunity to learn, develop, and innovate to help push our organization forward. We want someone who can become a long-term member of our team. Candidates should have strong interest in applying technology, analytical, and biomechanical information to coaching and player development. This role will support player development processes and on-field coaching primarily, with exposure to our Performance Science Lab. As such, we hope to find a candidate with strong interpersonal communication skills, empathy and cultural competence to relate to people from a range of cultural and educational backgrounds, and a bias towards action.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operation & implementation of various technologies including but not limited to: Hawk-Eye, Trackman, Motion Capture, workload monitors, etc.
  • Participate in daily practice supporting Arizona Complex League coaching staff as needed on-field and off. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: executing practice exercises with players, throwing batting practice, hitting fungos, administrative tasks and documentation
  • Assist in Performance Science Lab, finding innovative ways to leverage technology in coaching
  • Help foster a positive environment for the holistic development of our players
  • Contribute to the CBR Operations, Video, Baseball Operations, Player Development, and Performance Science departments as assigned with tasks such as:
  • Review of Minor League and amateur pitch classifications
  • Assisting operation capture for internal software across pitching, hitting, and weight room activities

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English.  Ability to write correspondence, both simple and complex, in English.  Ability to communicate information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to speak and write in Spanish is a plus.
  • Professional Experience: Experience instructing and/or playing in a collaborative high performance sport environment. Experience operating or familiarity with the above technologies is not required but a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) and basic troubleshooting ability. Coding (R or Python), Database Querying (SQL), or Data Visualization skills are a plus.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to understand and carry out written or oral instructions of varying degrees of complexity.  Ability to solve problems through logic and critical thinking.
  • Willingness to relocate to Glendale, Arizona from late January through October and work full-time hours during that timeframe
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, as needed
