Overview:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Stadium Facilities, the Sound Mixer is responsible for the set-up, preparation and operation of the sound system, specifically the sound mixing board and associated equipment used during events at Angel Stadium.
This is a non-benefit eligible, bargaining unit position, hourly pay for Journeyman level for this position is $35.45 per hour. Union dues are $22 per month and an additional 1.25%.
This position is eligible for sick time (after 90 days of employment) and complimentary tickets to games (12 per season).
Duties:
- Coordinates set-up, preparation, and operation of the sound system.
- Operates a multi-channel electronic digital sound mixing board.
- Works with electricians and entertainment staff to ensure optimum sound performance.
- Responsible for RF microphone and intercom set-up.
- Detects and solves audio system problems.
- Takes direction from the Director of Entertainment and Production during events.
- Performs other job related duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of the principals of sound and audio system operation.
- Skills in setting up and operating sound systems.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience mixing front of house sound, specifically professional sporting events or live concerts in large outdoor stadium venues.
- Ability to operate routing equipment, which may require patching of audio, video and ancillary signals.
- Must be capable of using a computer, digital sound mixing board and electronic controlled sound equipment.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to use both hands, arms and leg
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching
- Ability to lift up to 100-pounds
- Ability to maintain proper balance
- Ability to frequently stand and walk, climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to frequently work in confined or high spaces.
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
- Subject to working near moving parts of heavy machinery and high voltage equipment where the use of appropriate protective/safety equipment is required
- Subject to working in adverse weather conditions
- Work includes indoors and outdoors environment
