Overview:
Under the direction of the Field Manager, the Part-Time Groundskeeper assists with the daily care and maintenance of the playing surface and surrounding field areas at Angel Stadium. This position plays an important role in ensuring the field is maintained to Major League Baseball standards for player safety, performance, and presentation.
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position and the rate of pay is $16.90 per hour. This position is eligible for sick time (after 90 days of employment), 401k employee contribution participation after 3 months of employment, and complimentary tickets to games (12 per season).
Duties:
- Perform daily field maintenance, including mowing, edging, weeding, sodding, blowing, vacuuming, infield grooming, warning track maintenance, and mound and home plate repairs.
- Safely operate and maintain grounds equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility carts, aerators, blowers, vacuums, and other turf maintenance equipment.
- Assist with field preparation before, during, and after games and special events.
- Work collaboratively with full-time and seasonal grounds staff to maintain the highest standards of field quality.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- One to two years of experience in athletic field maintenance, landscaping, golf course maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience maintaining baseball fields is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by the baseball schedule.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in an outdoor environment.
- Ability to work on uneven surfaces, including grass, dirt, clay, and warning track material.
- Ability to frequently bend, twist, squat, kneel, reach, push, pull, and grasp tools and equipment.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
