Overview
The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting full-cycle transactional accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, journal entries, collections support, and month-end close activities. Reporting to the Controller, this position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting timely reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and company procedures.
The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting full-cycle transactional accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, journal entries, collections support, and month-end close activities. Reporting to the Controller, this position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting timely reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and company procedures.
This position is benefit-eligible including: medical, dental and vision insurance, 401K eligibility; employee contributions after 3 months, employer matching and safe harbor after 1 year and 1000 hours of employment. Additional perks include paid holidays, sick days, vacation accrual (2 weeks’ vacation), and tickets to games.
The expected hourly pay range for this position will be $25-$30 per hour . Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, accounting systems knowledge, industry experience, and business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities:
- Prepare journal entries; analyze and maintain schedules supporting account balances.
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage all aspects of Accounts Receivable (A/R), including billing, cash collections, and cash application.
- Review A/R aging reports and customer statements to ensure timely collections and accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with internal departments (Sales, Operations, and Finance) to support financial reporting and ensure data accuracy.
- Assist in preparing supporting schedules and documentation for external audits, as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- 1–3 years of related accounting experience preferred.
- Experience within the television, radio, sports, entertainment, or media industry is preferred but not required.
- Accounts receivable and/or collections experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Experience with Great Plains software strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through on assignments.
- Professional demeanor and ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Sit for extended periods of time while working at a desk or computer.
- Use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, phone, copier, scanner, and other standard office equipment.
- View a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with employees, customers, vendors, and business partners.
- Occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, or move within the office.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull office materials, files, or supplies weighing up to approximately 15 pounds.
- Maintain regular and reliable in-office attendance.
