Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the development and execution of events & entertainment for the Kansas City Royals. Their primary role is to develop cohesive experiences for our fans and to make Kauffman Stadium the premiere ballpark in Major League Baseball. The Senior Director of Events & Entertainment will help define the fan experience for our guests by conceptualizing, defining, and strategizing a vision of fan involvement.   
Responsibilities include the oversight of game day presentation, programming for special events, promotions, theme nights, concerts, and entertainment resources. They will also collaborate with creative counterparts to develop content for in-game entertainment and event activations that are consistent with brand strategy and drive fan engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Define objectives, lead concepting and create vision for Royals events & entertainment
  • Oversee exploration, planning and implementation of elements that enhance overall game entertainment in and around the ballpark (e.g., theme nights, giveaways, mascots, DJ, KCrew, in-stadium hosts, fireworks, pyro, etc.)
  • Manage a team consisting of Director of Events & Entertainment, Manager of Promotions, Manager of Special Events, Events & Entertainment Coordinator and Mascot Coordinator
  • Oversee planning and execution of brand activations and events outside the ballpark
  • Oversee corporate partnership inventory within game presentation and special events
  • Liaison with MLB on the implementation of league directives regarding inning breaks, time of game management and marketing initiatives
  • Entertainment programming for special events & activations
  • Other duties as assigned                                   

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university
  • A minimum 5+ years’ experience and a proven track record within event/entertainment programming with a focus on live events and sports entertainment
  • A minimum of 3+ years of managerial/supervisory experience
  • Exceptional leadership, demonstrated by creative and strategic thinking, superior problem-solving and excellent communication skills
  • Professional knowledge of creative entertainment, game operations, event logistics and technical operations 
  • Experience working collaboratively with creative teams and other departments
  • Experience booking, negotiating, and attracting concerts, tradeshows, and other special events
  • Must be extremely flexible with non-traditional work schedule
