Job Title: Manager – Events & Activations 

Job Summary: This position’s primary responsibility will be to take lead on gameday and non-gameday events as well as assist in the overall execution of large-scale events. Additional responsibilities include assisting with external distribution of gate giveaways and theme night execution. 

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities: 
·         Lead and manage events for internal stakeholders such as Fundraising Events, Royals Rally, Galas, Holiday Parties, etc. 
·         Lead in the planning, coordinating, and execution of signature special events during gamedays and non-gamedays 
  • Manage Kauffman Stadium calendar within Tripleseat, including adding, editing, and/or removing events and event holds, and respond to building availability requests in a timely manner  
  • Assist with all theme night item distribution on select gamedays to ensure proper delivery 
·         Support on any large-scale events, such as Savannah Bananas, Upper Deck and concerts  
·         Ensure clear, articulate and timely communication of event needs and requirements to all internal departments, partners, and vendors 
·         Assist with the management of event budgets with an awareness of overall goals 
·         Assist in creative planning, developing, improving, and evolving all theme nights and special events from year to year  
·         Other duties as assigned by Associate Director – Special Events and Associate Director – Events & Activations 
 
Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
·         A minimum of 5+ years of related experience in event planning and coordination

·         Proven management experience supervising staff, managing workflows, and supporting team performance and accountability

·         Has previous event execution experience; supporting with day-of responsibilities to bring events to life
  • Able to manage multiple events and projects at one time while balancing workload and prioritizing meeting deadlines 
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, partners and internal personnel, and ensure that event specifications are communicated and executed for a successful experience for all key stakeholders 
·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
·         Proactive thinking individual with the ability to multitask
·         Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Can handle outside environment working conditions
·         Able to work evenings and weekends as needed for Royals home games, and non-game day special events
·         Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Communication, or related field is a plus
 
Physical Requirements: 
·         Ability to handle some manual labor, including lifting boxes and pushing carts
·         Ability to lift items weighing as much as 15 pounds 
·         Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
·         Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
·         Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
·         Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling
