Summary: The Worcester Red Sox are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Director of Finance that will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial aspects of the club. You will be responsible for managing the month-end close process, financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting processes to ensure financial success and compliance of the team. You will provide strategic financial guidance at all levels of the organization, contributing to overall growth and development. 

Responsibilities:
  • Execute and further develop financial strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize the team's financial performance and achieve organizational goals.
  • Establish and document proper controls regarding stadium cash operations. 
  • Manage game day and special event finance reporting, compiling data into a comprehensive game day dashboard, and distributing to relevant stakeholders accompanied by an analysis that compares performance to financial objectives.
  • Execute and manage the Month Close process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports, including monthly financial statements and Actual vs Budget analysis, for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Work closely with the General Manager and other stakeholders to manage the annual budgeting process, including working with department heads to develop budget plans, track expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.
  • Ensure policies and procedures compliant with financial regulations and GAAP accounting standards.
  • Working with Diamond Baseball Holdings Finance Team to collaborate with external partners, including banks, auditors, and vendors, maintainting strong relationships and ensuring compliance with contractual and financial obligations.
  • Provide leadership and financial guidance throughout the organization, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with various department heads on relevant commissions reporting and distribution. 
  • Liaise with our Major League affiliate (Boston Red Sox) regarding cash allocation for team travel and ensure prompt, thorough reimbursement reporting, maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Communicate with the Corporate Partnership and Ticket Sales teams on Accounts Receivable cycle (billing and collections), as well as managing cashflow and execution of Accounts Payable.  
  • Manage the seasonal payroll system and processes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in financial management and general accounting experience, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.
  • Ability to work unconventional hours such as nights, weekends, and sometimes holidays.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence. 
  • Competent understanding and execution of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills, and work ethic, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments as well as the proven ability to work independently.
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines 
  • Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate to non-financial team members. 
  • Demonstrated positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and readiness to engage in collective responsibilities unique to a Minor League Baseball environment.
  • Ability to communicate with executives with unwavering integrity and honesty.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Proficient in financial software tools such as bill.com, Divvy, NetSuite, and QuickBooks.
