Overview: Are you an energetic and animated individual who enjoys being the center of attention? Do you enjoy making people laugh with goofy antics? Do you enjoy performing, especially in costume? If you’ve answered yes to these questions, we’ve got the position for you. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are searching for a strong performer to fulfill the part-time role of our mascot, CHAMP. CHAMP also makes several community appearances a month to events such as parades, festivals, fundraisers and birthday parties. We’re hoping to find a responsible individual with a flexible schedule who is excited to represent our team. Various availability during the day, evening and weekend hours throughout the year during the baseball season and the off-season is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Attending community and sponsor-related events – such as fundraisers, festivals, parades and birthday parties – to perform in the CHAMP suit and interact with participants and fans.
- Providing energetic entertainment for public events, such as dancing and participating in activities
- Posing for photos with both adults and children
- Proper interaction with children, including children with disabilities
- Walking in local parades and interacting with parade-goers
- Representing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in a suitable manner consistent with the organization’s community goals and initiatives
- Responding to game-day requests of all RailRiders staff members as far as seat-visits and appearances are concerned
- Communicate effectively and consistently regarding all mascot appearance requests and game-day scheduling
Requirements:
- Due to the size of the CHAMP suit, performer must be at least 5’5’’ tall
- Performer must demonstrate ability to move around confidently and with ease while in the CHAMP suit
- Must have a valid driver’s license and/or a reliable form of transportation
- Must pass background check
- Must be energetic and animated while interacting as the mascot
- Performer must be willing to attend events on nights and weekends
- Past performance experience (theater, dance, etc.) is a plus
- A performer local to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area is strongly preferred
- Be able to be flexible and understanding of last minute requests
