POSITION: Media Relations Assistant (Seasonal)
FLSA Status: Hourly Pay / Class Credit
Compensation: $12/hour, with the potential to earn overtime
Expected Start Date: March 2, 2026 (flexible based on availability)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Media Relations Assistant will work directly with the Public Relations Manager and Director of Broadcasting throughout the 2026 Louisville Bats baseball season. This is a seasonal position for the 2026 baseball season (March to late September/early October).
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist with assembly and distribution of daily game notes, which include detailed baseball information and statistics
· Help coordinate and conduct interviews with team personnel including the manager, coaches, and players for use in online stories and other content
· Post to and manage team’s official website (batsbaseball.com)
· Assist with Team's social media (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) accounts as needed.
· Write a variety of stories for team website and program including feature stories, Q&A articles, game recaps, press releases, media advisories, and more.
· Serve as editor for content such as Media Guide, feature stories, game recaps, etc.
· Cover home and away games throughout the season. Assistant is expected to be at most, if not all, Bats home games at Louisville Slugger Field. Road game coverage will require remote work away from the office.
· Prepare press box on game days.
· Clip game video highlights and upload to online drive for staff and media use.
· Operate DakStats Baseball computer program for in-game scoreboard and live stats.
· Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s degree preferred, OR working toward degree.
· Must be available in person for the full duration of the 2026 baseball season (March to late September/October)
· Strong knowledge and understanding of baseball and statistics
· Ability to work extended hours in an office and press box environment throughout the 2026 season, with the ability to work well remotely outside the office
· Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign; Photoshop is a bonus, but not necessary
· Superior writing and communication skills
· Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team
· Strong time management and organizational skills
