Job Overview (Part-Time)
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are looking for a dynamic and engaging individual to serve as the team’s Public Address Announcer at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. The P.A. Announcer is an integral part of the game day fan experience, whether it’s communicating the status of gameplay, reading pre-written advertising scripts, or enhancing entertainment with commentary to our thousands of fans in attendance. *This is not a broadcaster/play-by-play position*
Responsibilities
- Serve as Public Address Announcer for all 75 IronPigs home games as part of the Coca-Cola Park control room crew.
- Clearly communicate team information during gameplay including introducing player plate appearances, lineup changes, defensive substitutions, delays and more.
- Must have a strong knowledge of the rules of baseball and understand the cadence of baseball game operations.
- Read sponsorship scripts as written.
- Must have a clear speaking voice and pronounce written copy correctly.
- Provide commentary during in-between inning games as needed.
- Calmly communicate necessary information during emergency situations.
- Be able to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to scheduled game time.
- Be able to clearly communicate with co-workers in the control room.
- Make additional announcements as necessary at the direction of the control room director/producer.
Qualifications
- Prior on-mic experience required (Prior public address experience preferred. Experience as play-by-play or on-air reporter is acceptable).
- Prior public speaking experience a plus.
- Available to work all 75 IronPigs home games.
- Local candidates preferred.
