Overview

The Community Relations & IronPigs Charities Intern plays a key role in supporting the Lehigh Valley IronPigs’ community engagement initiatives and charitable programs. This position provides hands-on experience in event coordination, nonprofit outreach, and fan engagement — offering an inside look at how a professional sports team makes an impact both on and off the field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the IronPigs’ online donation platform, ApprovedForGood, and process all incoming donation requests.
  • Maintain and update the master nonprofit list while facilitating outreach to strengthen community partnerships.
  • Coordinate and execute non-profit gameday initiatives including Salute to Service, Swing for Swine, Community Spotlight, and Philling the Need.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating mascot appearances for community events; will also perform as one of the IronPigs mascots.
  • Oversee the Community Relations Table and Guest Services area during all home games.
  • Support IronPigs Charities fundraisers and events such as Meet the Team Night, Hackers & Homers Golf Tournament, and the Phillies Winter Banquet.
  • Lead in-game fundraising initiatives, including the 50/50 Raffle and Jersey Auctions.
  • Assist with planning and execution of youth baseball camps and other community programs.
  • Conduct and facilitate ballpark tours for fans and community groups.
  • Represent the IronPigs at local nonprofit and community events.
  • Provide additional support for in-game promotions and special events as needed.

Hours & Expectations

  • November – March (January start at the latest): 35-hour work weeks (primarily Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM with a one-hour lunch). Occasional weekend work may be required for community events.
  • April – September: 35-hour work weeks that include weekends and gamedays. Flexibility is expected during the baseball season.
