JOB DESCRIPTION:
The assistant will help in a variety of media relations, communications and promotions/marketing responsibilities over the 150-game season.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Writing: Producing feature stories, game previews, game recaps and press releases for Jumbo Shrimp website, team blog and gameday program.
· Media Relations: Assist with all media relations efforts, including finalizing record book, issuing press releases, accommodating interview requests, administering media credentials, assisting with roster moves, creating & distributing stat packs and other gameday materials and various graphic and web design projects. The assistant will also oversee the Jumbo Shrimp press box and act as on-site contact for local media during live shots throughout the season.
· Video Editing: Assist in production of Jumbo Shrimp’s Turn 2 podcast and in editing in-game highlights using MiLB’s Diamond platform.
· Social Media/Website: Assist in managing team’s Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages with consistent and professional content for baseball-related and promotional materials and help in updating team’s website using MiLB’s Forge platform.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
At least one season of media relations experience (preference given to pro baseball) / Possess strong character, be reliable and trustworthy / Demonstrate strong writing skills with versatility between different platforms / A self-starter who has the ability to handle multiple projects at once and maintain high quality of work in a professional setting / Knowledge of: Microsoft Office programs, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe InDesign) / Applicant should be outgoing, hard-working, organized and a team player.
