Dates: February 4, 2026 - September 30, 2026
Hours: 40+ hours per week in addition to all Indians homegames and public events
Pay: $1,750 monthly stipend
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Positions Summary
The Indianapolis Indians seek a candidate to assist its merchandise staff in the team’s daily operations, with an emphasis on branded team apparel. Those interested in a career in professional or collegiate athletics will gain experience and develop skills critical to beginning a career in sports merchandising. Applicants must have experience in customer service and work closely with others in the merchandise department daily for the duration of the Minor League Baseball season.

Responsibilities

  • Co-manage the Hot Corner Gift Shop, Big League Shop, center field walk-up stand and all game day employees in each location. 
  • Help train game day staff with techniques that promote excellent customer service skills.
  • Assist with the ordering of new merchandise and visual display of merchandise in stores. 
  • Process internet orders daily and maintain the online store in all operations. 
  • Receive and inspect all new merchandise. 
  • Assist in the preparation of all points-of-sale systems and maintain balanced cash register drawers
  • Perform inventory audits
  • Organize products in storage rooms and maintain cleanliness of storage rooms. 
  • Help execute retail promotions, including the Season Ticket Holder Party, National Hat Day, etc. 
  • Maintain and restock the Hot Corner Gift Shop, Big League Shop and center field kiosk daily.
  • Represent department as liaison for outside event vendors
  • Assist field operations with field maintenance- pulling tarp, clearing fireworks, etc.
  • Assist marketing department with distributing materials around the community as needed
  • Represent the Indians at various community outreach events
  • Game day shuttle and front desk shifts in season, as assigned, on a rotating schedule.
  • Assist with public and private stadium events, as needed, including the Victory Field Classic, City/County Championships, IHSAA State Finals, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a college/university or obtained a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.  Previous experience in a sports environment and/or retail and customer service experience are strongly preferred. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required. 

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills and abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work up to 14 hours per day, up to 85 hours per week (in-season)

The Indianapolis Indians are the professional Triple-A baseball club affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In continuous operation since 1902, the organization believes in creating affordable and memorable experiences for fans so they can grow closer together with family, friends, and the community through the game of baseball.
