Community Outreach Assistant
Reports to: Community Outreach Coordinator
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Status: Internship, Exempt
Dates: February 4, 2026-September 30, 2026
Hours: 40+ hours per week in addition to all home Indians games and public events
Pay: $1,750 monthly stipend
Position Summary
The Indianapolis Indians seek a candidate to assist with community relations in the team’s daily community impact efforts, with an emphasis on promotions and grassroots outreach. Applicants must have a strong desire to grow their knowledge with mascot programs, promotions, and community involvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage donation requests and fulfillment; maintain accurate records in database.
- Support the planning and implementation of community celebrations at Victory Field.
- Assist with the organizing and tracking of staff community service opportunities.
- Coordinate mascot appearance scheduling and assist as a mascot handler various appearance.
- Provide administrative and onsite support for youth sports programs.
- Assist with game day set up and logistics for the promotional game day team, including scheduling and assembling promotional kits.
- Contribute to the creation and distribution of promotional materials such as flyers, brochures and social media content highlighting community engagement and mascot programs.
- Assist with gathering and organizing information for the annual community impact report.
- Assist field operations with field maintenance - pulling tarp, clearing fireworks, etc.
- Represent the Indians at various community outreach events.
- Assist marketing department with distributing materials around the community as needed
- Game day shuttle and front desk shifts in season, as assigned, on a rotating schedule.
- Assist team with public and private stadium events, as needed, including the Victory Field Classic, City/County Championships, IHSAA State Finals, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or currently enrolled in a college/university. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced and stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Word, Excel, InDesign and Photoshop.
- Ability to work up to 14 hours per day, up to 85 hours per week (in-season).

Indianapolis Indians are the professional Triple-A baseball club affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
