The Charlotte Knights, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox playing in the nationally-acclaimed Truist Field in booming Uptown Charlotte, are looking for part-time, game day staff to assist in our merchandise department for the 2023 season.  The Knights season runs from April through the end of September.  This position will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our fans at the Knights Team Store as well as satellite merchandise locations within the ballpark on game day.  Game days are not limited to Knights games as Truist Field also hosts college baseball games including College Baseball games.  If you have an outgoing personality, a positive attitude, and like to work in a fast-paced environment, this would be an excellent fit!

With instruction from the Director of Merchandise, this position sells retail merchandise to guests in accordance with the Charlotte Knights customer service standards and applicable operational standards.  As a Game Day Merchandise Associate, you will be a front-line representative for the club in our in-stadium retail store locations. This requires exceptional communication skills and a desire to actively assist our fans with their shopping experiences from beginning to end. 

 This is a PART TIME/GAME DAY/SEASONAL position that requires daytime, nighttime, and weekend availability.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Greets and acknowledges guests.
  • Answers guests’ questions and assists them whenever possible.
  • Recommends, selects and, helps locate or obtain merchandise for guests.
  • Processes cash or credit sale with appropriate point of sale system. Accepts their form of payment, counts change, and bags merchandise.
  • Follows all register procedures and handles cash accordingly.
  • Exchanges merchandise for guests and processes returns, with approval of supervisor.
  • Ensures that all merchandise is correctly labeled and displayed.
  • Routinely stocks merchandise and faces items on shelves.
  • Verifies amount of bank at beginning and the end of each shift.
  • Maintains a clean and organized store or stand.
  • Maintains orderly back-stock and knows where goods are to be found.
  • Sets aside and notifies supervisor of defective, mis-marked, mislabeled, incorrectly priced, shopworn or damaged merchandise.
  • Watches for and recognizes security risks and thefts and reports to security and management.
  • Completes all related close-out paperwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, such as conducting inventory or loading and unloading merchandise.
 
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in cash handling.
  • Previous experience with operating point-of-sale systems.
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service environment is preferred.
  • Excellent guest service skills; ability to adhere to Company’s customer service standards.
  • Superb communication skills; ability to communicate respectfully and kindly with guests and co-workers.
  • Good problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to analyze a potential issue and determine the best course of action to take for a resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Basic math skills; ability to accurately handle money and count change.
  • Capable of following job guidelines and supervisors' instructions.

 Physical requirements of the job:
  • Ability to lift/move/carry items weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
