Job Title: Payroll Specialist
We’re looking for a detail-obsessed and deadline driven Payroll Specialist to join our growing finance team. If you love payroll, working with people, and want to play a key role in helping us hit a home run with our financial operations , we want to talk.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage all aspects of payroll processing for exempt, non-exempt and seasonal employees in Gusto, including new hire onboarding and terminations, multi-state employees, reimbursements and benefit deductions, for 3-4 clubs plus the ownership group.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records and documentation
- Ensure payroll practices are in full compliance with federal, state and local payroll regulations
- Act as point of contact for employees for all payroll and benefit related inquiries
- Assist with payroll audits and reporting as needed
- Support process improvements and general automation initiatives
- Support accounting and other projects in the offseason
What You Bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of 3+ years of payroll experience
- High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information
- Ability to work independently
- Collaborative and eager to learn
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic considerations.
- Benefits: Standard company benefits, which include medical, dental, vision, life-style spending account, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.

We’re adding a Payroll Specialist to join our growing finance team at Innovation Baseball Partners — the group behind teams like the Long Beach Coast, Yuba Sutter Freebirds and the Oakland Ballers.
This isn’t a “sit in the corner and process payroll” job. You’ll be in the mix — supporting multiple clubs, building processes, and helping us scale.
