The Houston Astros are seeking a hands-on Senior Technical Analyst to help in their server, security, network, and audio-visual groups. The analyst will assist with the support of the full stack of infrastructure that supports the Astros’ operations across all facilities.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the execution of the day-to-day operations of all infrastructure elements, ensuring critical services like patching, upgrades, monitoring/alerting, backups, etc. are performed consistently and effectively to minimize business risk and disruption.
  • Manage incidents, problems, enhancements and changes within the Astros ITIL framework in support of service level agreements.
  • Lead triage of incidents, determining root cause and creating lasting solutions.
  • Assist in the execution of projects, aligning internal and external resources in support of business objectives.
  • Work with internal stakeholder to identify and define the next opportunities and drive a game changing strategy, driven by technology, to deliver those opportunities.
  • Effectively manage support engagements with third party partners
  • Leverage understanding of technical architectures, capacity plans, tools requirements, automation, and product implementation plans.
  • Assist with Broadcast and AV distribution technologies.
  • Monitor & improve processes, including but not limited to; working on continuous improvement of the infrastructure lifecycle, ensuring the priority of deliverables & delivery schedules are clear and driving adoption/improvement of processes (e.g., time tracking & incident response).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated career progression including hands-on experience in support, design, implementation and testing.
  • 5+ years in infrastructure experience across a variety of technology verticals (servers, networks, cloud computing).
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal, formal and informal) and proven track record in managing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • 2+ years of direct or indirect experience in cloud-native architectures and integration strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure configuration and support.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune Device Management.
  • Experience with Instrumentation/IOT technologies and best practices.
  • Experience with multicast IP network technologies.
  • Complex audio-visual design, operations and support experience (e.g., radio/TV broadcast, large-venue audio & video distribution).
  • Experience with formal and informal project management best practices.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.  The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment. 

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for long periods of time; walk long distances and at varying heights; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds throughout the day.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Travel

Occasional travel may be expected in this role.
