Promotions & Events Apprentice

Department: Fan Experience

Supervisor: Sr. Coordinator, Promotions & Events  

Classification: Full-time/Non-Exempt (Temp)

 

Summary:

The Promotions & Events Apprentice supports the Houston Astros Promotions & Events team with day-to-day operations, including project tracking, gate giveaways, event planning and execution, fan programs, and on-field activations. This role also assists the marketing department with promotions fulfillment and coordination. Candidates should have experience in event planning, execution, post-event recaps, customer service, and live entertainment/game presentation.

This apprenticeship opportunity is to take place from January 2026 through January 2027.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the marketing, special events, and stadium operations teams with coordinating logistics and supporting the execution of large-scale events (e.g., Opening Day Street Festival, FanFest, HOF Weekend, Pride Night, Dog Day, Hispanic Heritage Festival).
  • Support promotional activities for Astros home games, including on-field pregame and in-game activations.
  • Help manage premium gate giveaways, including booking and coordinating distribution groups.
  • Collaborate with the Fan Experience team on ideas for milestone pregame ceremonies (e.g., Opening Day, Independence Day).
  • Assist with Commemorative and Fan Affinity programs, including daily management, customer fulfillment, and monitoring dedicated email accounts.
  • Contribute to special projects and creative initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

 

Education, Experience and/or Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or recent graduate) in Marketing, Event Management, Sports Management, Hospitality or related field preferred
  • Previous internship or part-time experience; 1+ year in promotions, events, or a similar role preferred
  • Flexible schedule; ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong professionalism, communication, and organizational skills
  • Creative, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving ability
  • Ability to build relationships across teams and with vendors
  • Baseball knowledge a plus

 

Work Environment

Position will work in an office and stadium environment. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment. Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather conditions and within a stadium environment.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. The vision requirement includes close vision and ability to adjust focus. Nature of position requires physical mobility and the ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position will work approximately 40 hours per week.

 

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
